Ketofall Preservative Free Allergy Eye Drops
Ketofall Preservative Free Allergy Eye Drops are a prescription-strength antihistamine to help treat cases of inflammation of the eyes, due to hay fever or seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.
Tried over the counter allergy eye drops to manage your hay fever? Have you found them to be less effective than expected? Then you might benefit from one of the prescription-strength allergy eye drops at Travelpharm like Ketofall
What is Ketofall?:
Ketofall preservative-free eye drops are a prescription-strength hayfever eye drop containing the antihistamine Ketotifen. Ketotifen has dual activity acting as an:
Antihistamine – Treating the symptoms of a recent exposure but blocking the action of histamine.
Mast Cell Stabiliser – Preventing mast cells from releasing histamine in the first place.
This means that Ketofall can be used daily to treat and prevent allergic eye conditions.
What is Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis?:
Seasonal conjunctivitis is caused by exposure to common seasonal allergens like moulds and pollen. Unfortunately, in patients who suffer from hay fever the body overreacts to these harmless allergens releasing histamine which ultimately causes the classic symptoms:
- Itchy eyes
- Watery eyes
- Whites of the eye are red/pink
- Sometimes sneezing and a watery nasal discharge can occur
Common allergens like Pollen can be subdivided into different types, causing misery to the patient throughout the year. Typically tree pollen is present in the spring, grass pollen tends to be summer and weeds/fungal spores in the late summer.
Have I got seasonal allergic conjunctivitis?:
If you are suffering the symptoms mentioned above affecting both eyes, made worse through being outside, and without sensitivity to light or significant yellow discharge, then there is a good chance you have seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.
Who is Ketofall for?:
Ketofall eye drops can be used by adults over 18 years old who have previously suffered from seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, also known as hayfever. This medicine can be safely used whilst breastfeeding.
It is particularly suited for individuals who:
- Have tried other hay fever eye drops like sodium cromoglicate (aka Opticrom) and found them ineffective.
- Patients who wear contact lenses. This is because Ketofall does not contain preservatives so the might just be the best eye drops for hayfever in those who wear soft lenses.
How to use Ketofall?:
Adults and Children over 12 years: ONE drop in each eye TWICE DAILY.
1: Open one single-dose vial by gently twisting off the top of the container.
2:Take care not to touch the tip (nozzle) on the dropper.
3: Tilt your head backwards, pull down your lower eyelid, and put in ONE drop of Ketofall.
4: Repeat the process for the other eye.
It is likely you will have some liquid left in the dropper after use. Please throw this away immediately.
Do not keep to reuse later. This medicine does not contain preservatives and so can easily be contaminated with bacteria.
Ketofall is not associated with many side effects but eye irritation can occur after use, and momentarily the drops may blur your vision. If planning to drive or operate heavy machinery please ensure your vision is clear. For more information please read the Patient leaflet.
Who can’t use Ketofall Allergy Eye drops?:
Travelpharm is unable to sell Ketofall to patients who are allergic to this medicine or patients who are currently pregnant.
