How Much Is A Tonne Of Plastic Waste In Nigeria

Plastic waste is a serious problem in the world today, and it’s only getting worse. Plastic pollution has been found in almost all parts of the ocean, from the surface to the deepest depths. It’s estimated that over five trillion pieces of plastic waste are currently floating around our oceans.

According to The World Bank, there are three main types of plastic: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene (PP), and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). PET is used mainly for bottles and containers, PP is used for food packaging, and HDPE is used for milk jugs and water bottles.

The average person uses up to 500 plastic bags per year in Nigeria alone! That’s 1 million bags per day! And if you think that’s bad, consider this: each one takes between 20-1000 years to degrade in landfills or oceans.

That’s why we need to start working towards a zero-waste lifestyle as soon as possible so we can help prevent more pollution from happening in future generations’ lifetimes.

How Much Is A Tonne Of Plastic Waste In Nigeria

A tonne of plastic waste is a metric ton (or 1000 kilograms) of plastic. It is used to describe the amount of plastic waste produced by companies and individuals on an annual basis.

In Nigeria, it is estimated that 60 million tonnes of plastic waste are generated annually. This means that if you were to put all of the country’s plastic waste in one place, it would cover an area roughly equal to the size of the city of Lagos.

The current price of a tonne of plastic waste in Nigeria is estimated at $150.

This is based on the current price of $1.50 per pound for plastic waste, which is then multiplied by 2,000 pounds per tonne.
